Most attorneys have never taken a civil case to trial or have very limited experience. Much of my law practice comes from other attorneys requesting me to bring their cases to a conclusion.

Insurance companies know which attorneys they should settle with due to major trial experience. They also know the attorneys who must accept a smaller settlement due to their lack of experience.
